Owen Teale is best known for his performances as John O'Brien, the hero in Catherine Cookson's The Fifteen Streets both in the West End and on TV; Lopahkin in The Cherry Orchard, the film by Mikhail Cacoyannis starring alongside Alan Bates and Charlotte Rampling; and Torvald in the ground breaking production of Ibsen's A Doll’s House, which was a huge hit both in London’s West End and on Broadway, culminating in his winning the prestigious Tony Award.

He recently starred alongside Kenneth Branagh, Stanley Tucci, and Colin Firth in the multi award winning film Conspiracy, about the meeting which took place at Wannsee on Jan 20 1942 when Nazi officials planned ‘the final solution.’

During two seasons with the Royal Shakespeare Company, roles included Hotspur in Henry IV, Mark Anthony in Julius Caesar and Edmund in King Lear, all with the late Sir Robert Stephens.

Recently Owen has returned to Wales to take the title role in Macbeth for Terry Hands at Clwyd Theatr Cymru .

At the National Theatre he played the title role in Ivanov by Chekhov.

At the Royal Court he created the role of Richard in The Country by Martin Crimp.

He has just returned from Australia where the West End production of Dance Of Death, in which he starred alongside Sir Ian McKellen and Frances de la Tour, headed the Sydney Festival.

Owen is currently filming the latest series of Spooks for the BBC.

 Born in Swansea, South Wales, Owen grew up in the small town of Cornelly. After leaving the Guildford School Of Acting in 1984 his career began as Albie in The Mimosa Boys, the BBC film telling the tragic story of four Welsh Guards on their way to the Falklands War.
